The SANDVIK COROMANT 7080932 is a round-profile indexable turning insert designed for steel machining in the T-Max P series. It carries the ANSI insert code RNMG54 and ISO designation RNMG 15 06 00, and is manufactured from solid carbide with a CVD-applied TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN multilayer coating. This coating sequence provides moderate wear resistance balanced with toughness, making the insert well suited for continuous and light-interrupted cuts in steel workpieces. With eight available cutting edges and a neutral hand orientation, it delivers efficient tool utilization. The insert is held by clamp and pin methods and fits standard RNMG-compatible toolholders.
This insert is used in turning centers and engine lathes for steel components in both production shop and maintenance machining environments. Its grade 4335 composition targets ISO material group P — general steel — where moderate wear resistance and toughness are the priority. The round insert shape provides a large, strong cutting edge with a 7.94 mm corner radius, reducing stress concentration during continuous turning. Licensed machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary installers and operators. It is applicable to external and internal turning operations where RNMG geometry toolholders are in use.
Designed for use with RNMG54-compatible clamping and pin-style toolholders in the SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max P series. Consult toolholder documentation to confirm bore diameter and seat geometry before installation.
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, de-energized state per applicable lockout/tagout procedures. Use proper insert-handling tools to avoid contact with the cutting edge. Confirm the toolholder pocket and seating surface are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Torque the clamping screw per the toolholder manufacturer specification only — do not estimate.
