The SANDVIK COROMANT 7080905 is a DNMG-style indexable turning insert in the T-Max P series, designed for external and internal turning operations on steel workpieces. Manufactured from solid carbide and finished with a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, this insert delivers thermal resistance and wear protection during moderate to high cutting speeds. The 55-degree diamond shape (Insert Shape Code D) combined with the QM chip breaker geometry provides reliable chip control across a range of steel machining conditions. With a neutral hand orientation and four cutting edges per insert, it suits high-volume production environments where tool economy matters. Licensed machinists and CNC operators specify this insert for ISO code DNMG 15 04 08-QM 4335 applications.
This insert is intended for turning steel (ISO material group P) in CNC lathes and turning centers, both in production shops and job shops. The QM chip breaker geometry is suited to medium cutting depths on carbon steel, alloy steel, and similar ferrous materials. A 0.5 inch inscribed circle and 1/32 inch corner radius make it appropriate for medium-sized toolholders with DNMG-style pockets. It is sold individually but must be ordered in multiples of 10 to meet the minimum order quantity. Machinists handling steel roughing and semi-finishing passes are the primary installers.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fit for DNMG-pocket turning toolholders accepting inserts with a 1/2 inch inscribed circle, 3/16 inch insert thickness, and clamp or pin holding. ISO code reference: DNMG 15 04 08-QM 4335.
Indexable turning inserts are installed and indexed by CNC machinists and manual lathe operators following machine lockout and spindle-stop procedures before any insert change. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamping hardware for the DNMG toolholder pocket to ensure proper seating. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping pin for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Do not use a damaged or chipped insert edge, as it can cause unpredictable tool failure during a cut.
