The SANDVIK COROMANT 7080830 is a DNMG-style indexable turning insert engineered for steel machining in T-Max P series toolholders. It features a 55-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation and a 4-corner cutting edge configuration, making it a cost-effective choice for high-production turning operations. The insert is manufactured from solid carbide and coated via CVD with a TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN multilayer coating — a stack that provides wear resistance, thermal stability, and surface finish control. The PM chip breaker geometry is designed to manage chip flow across a range of depths of cut and feed rates, particularly when machining steel components.
This insert is intended for turning applications on steel workpieces, corresponding to ISO material group P. It fits residential and industrial CNC lathes and turning centers where DNMG 11 04 04-PM geometry inserts are specified. The 3/8-inch inscribed circle (IC) and 3/16-inch insert thickness place it in a mid-range size class suited for medium to heavy roughing and semi-finishing passes. Machinists and CNC operators working with carbon steels, alloy steels, and similar P-class materials will find this grade and geometry well matched to interrupted and continuous cuts.
Designed for use in SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max P series toolholders accepting DNMG 11 04 04 insert geometry. ISO code DNMG 11 04 04-PM 4335. Clamp and pin holding methods are supported.
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp hardware specified for the T-Max P toolholder to secure the insert — do not overtighten by hand estimation. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new edge. Dispose of worn inserts in accordance with local regulations for carbide tooling.
