The SANDVIK COROMANT 7080748 is a CCMT-style turning insert designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. It carries the ISO designation CCMT 06 02 04-UM 4335 and belongs to the CoroTurn 107 series. The insert is manufactured from solid carbide with a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, making it well-suited for finishing and semi-finishing cuts in steel workpiece materials. The 80-degree diamond shape provides a strong cutting edge geometry, and the UM chipbreaker is optimized for controlled chip formation at moderate cutting parameters. Installation is handled by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is intended for turning applications where steel is the primary workpiece material (ISO material group P). The CoroTurn 107 series is commonly used in screw-clamped toolholder systems for light to medium turning passes. The neutral hand orientation allows use in standard right-hand turning setups. Two cutting edges are available per insert, and the UM chipbreaker geometry supports consistent chip evacuation during finishing operations in steel.
Designed for use in CoroTurn 107 series screw-clamp toolholders that accept CCMT 06 02 insert size inserts. ISO code CCMT 06 02 04-UM 4335 applies. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO code P). Specific toolholder compatibility should be confirmed against SANDVIK COROMANT CoroTurn 107 toolholder documentation.
Insert replacement is performed by machinists and CNC operators. Power down or stop spindle rotation completely before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct Torx key to tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder specification — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excessive clamping force. Confirm insert seating and pocket condition before resuming cuts.
