The SANDVIK COROMANT 7080735 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for external and internal turning operations on steel workpieces. Manufactured to ANSI insert code TCMT32.52 and ISO code TCMT16T308, this insert features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN for moderate wear resistance combined with high toughness. The 60-degree triangular insert geometry provides three usable cutting edges per insert. With a PR chip breaker, the 7080735 is optimized for roughing and medium machining applications on steel. It is installed using a screw-type holding method and carries a neutral hand designation.
This insert is suited for steel turning in both roughing and medium machining passes where a balance of wear resistance and toughness is required. The CoroTurn 107 series is a widely used platform in production turning environments, and this insert fits holders designed around that system. The 3/8-inch inscribed circle and 5/32-inch insert thickness position it for mid-size tooling setups. It is used by machinists and tooling specialists in CNC turning centers and manual lathes handling steel components.
Designed for use in SANDVIK COROMANT CoroTurn 107 series toolholders that accept TCMT-style inserts with a screw-type holding method and ANSI size code 32.52. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO material code P).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked before changing inserts. Seat the insert firmly against the pocket surfaces and torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified value using the appropriate Torx or hex key. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before installing a new edge. Refer to SANDVIK COROMANT toolholder documentation for cutting parameter recommendations specific to the workpiece material and operation type.
