The SANDVIK COROMANT 6967022 is a spiral flute tap in the CoroTap 300 series, designed for threading 3/8-16 UNC holes in metalworking applications. Built from powdered metal high speed steel with an iron nitride (FeN) coating, it delivers reliable wear resistance in production environments. The tap features a 45-degree helix angle and a modified bottoming chamfer, making it suited for threading into blind holes where chip evacuation is critical. It carries a 3BX class of fit for tighter tolerance threading. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops, production facilities, and maintenance environments install this tap in standard tapping heads or CNC machining centers.

This tap is designed for right-hand threading in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, N, and S. The spiral flute design pulls chips up and out of the hole during tapping, which is especially important in blind-hole applications. With an overall length of 100 millimeters (3.937 inches), a shank diameter of 9.68 millimeters (0.381 inches), and a thread length of 16.80 millimeters (0.661 inches), it fits standard tap holders for this thread class. Coolant-through capability is not included on this model.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by machinists and CNC operators following standard tapping procedures. Cutting fluid or appropriate tapping compound should be applied for manual tapping operations; verify machine parameters for CNC applications before running. This tap does not include coolant-through capability, so external lubrication is required.
