The SANDVIK COROMANT 6906907 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for use in R390 series square-shoulder and face milling cutters. Carrying the ANSI and ISO designation R390-11 T3 02E-PM 1130, it features an AlTiCrN coating applied via PVD process, a parallelogram insert shape with a 90-degree included angle, and a positive rake geometry with a 25-degree rake angle. The insert measures 11.00 mm wide and 3.97 mm thick, provides two cutting edges per insert, and delivers a maximum depth of cut of 10.00 mm. It is held in place by a screw-type clamping method and is suited for high-precision metal removal operations run by machining professionals.
This insert is intended for milling operations across a broad range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, N, S, and H. Typical applications include square-shoulder milling, face milling, and pocket milling on machining centers and CNC mills in both production shop and job shop environments. The PM chip breaker geometry supports efficient chip control across these varied material groups. The right-hand cutting configuration suits standard spindle rotation on most vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Compatible with M-32 and R390 cutter series. Designed for use in toolholders and cutter bodies that accept the R390-11 T3 02E insert seat configuration per ANSI and ISO standards.
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the spindle fully stopped and machine in a locked-out, tagged-out state per facility LOTO procedures. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key driver as specified by the toolholder manufacturer when tightening the clamping screw — do not overtighten or use impact tools on insert screws. Inspect the insert pocket seat for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure full contact and accurate edge positioning. Follow the cutter body manufacturer's recommended feed and speed parameters for the 1130 grade and target workpiece material.
