The SANDVIK COROMANT 6868545 is a WNMG432-KM 3225 trigon turning insert designed for indexable toolholders in CNC and manual lathe operations. Built from solid carbide with a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, this insert delivers thermal and wear resistance during interrupted and continuous turning passes. The 80-degree included angle and neutral hand orientation make it suitable for a broad range of turning profiles. With a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a 0.03125-inch (1/32-inch) corner radius, it is sized for standard WNMG-style pockets. The KM chip breaker geometry is optimized for cast iron machining. Six cutting edges are available per insert, maximizing value per unit consumed.
This insert is intended for turning operations on cast iron workpieces in production and job-shop environments. The T-Max P series is designed for external and internal turning applications where consistent chip control and edge stability are required. Machinists and CNC operators working with gray iron, ductile iron, and similar ferrous materials will find the KM chip breaker geometry well suited to their typical feed and depth-of-cut ranges. The insert is held in place using a clamp-and-pin method standard to WNMG-style toolholders.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for WNMG 08 04 08-KM 3225 inserts in standard WNMG-style indexable turning toolholders using a clamp-and-pin insert holding method.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to release the clamp without damaging the insert pocket seating surface. Inspect the pocket and shim for wear or debris before seating the new insert; a contaminated pocket will compromise edge geometry and surface finish.
