The SANDVIK COROMANT 6868292 is a TCMT-style triangular turning insert in the CoroTurn 107 series, designed for external turning and boring operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a solid carbide substrate with a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, optimized for cutting cast iron at high feed rates with reliable chip control. The KM chip breaker geometry delivers controlled chip formation in medium to finish turning passes. With a 0.25-inch inscribed circle, a 0.0313-inch corner radius, and a 7-degree relief angle, this insert suits applications where dimensional accuracy and surface finish are critical. Installation requires a screw-clamping toolholder compatible with TCMT 11 03 08 geometry.
This insert is rated primarily for cast iron workpiece materials (ISO material code K) and is suited for medium finishing to semi-roughing passes where depth of cut up to 9.94 mm is expected. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with both right- and left-hand toolholders that accept the TCMT seat configuration. The CoroTurn 107 series is used in production turning environments across automotive, general engineering, and pump and valve component machining. Each insert provides 3 usable cutting edges, supporting cost-per-edge efficiency in high-volume operations. Sold individually; minimum order quantity is 10 units.
Designed for use in screw-clamping toolholders accepting TCMT 11 03 08 seat geometry within the CoroTurn 107 series. Verify toolholder seat designation before installation. Intended for cast iron primary workpiece material applications (ISO K material group).
Turning insert replacement is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to the toolholder manufacturer's specified clamping screw procedure; do not overtighten the clamp screw. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for debris or damage before seating the new insert. Confirm insert orientation and hand before resuming cuts.
