The SANDVIK COROMANT 6868244 is a CCMT32.52-WM 3225 carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations in the CoroTurn 107 tooling system. The insert features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, engineered for high wear resistance and toughness when machining cast iron workpiece materials in the K material group. With an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a 0.3750-inch inscribed circle, and a 0.0313-inch corner radius, this insert delivers consistent cutting performance across medium machining applications. The WM chip breaker geometry is classified as a wiper style optimized for medium-depth passes with controlled chip formation.
This insert is suited for CNC turning centers and engine lathes where cast iron components require reliable surface finish and tool life. The CoroTurn 107 series is a screw-clamped positive-rake tooling platform, making this insert appropriate for finishing to medium roughing operations on gray iron, nodular iron, and similar K-group materials. It is installed and replaced by machinists, CNC operators, and tooling technicians in production and job-shop environments. The neutral hand orientation allows use on both right-hand and left-hand tool holders that accept CCMT-style inserts with the appropriate seat geometry.
Designed for use with CoroTurn 107 series screw-clamped turning tool holders that accept CCMT-style inserts. ANSI insert code CCMT32.52; ISO insert code CCMT09T308.
Insert replacement should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians with the machine in a full stop, de-energized state and all axes locked or at a safe position. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key as specified by the tool holder manufacturer when tightening the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert. Do not force the insert into the pocket; proper seating requires no mechanical persuasion when the pocket is clean and undamaged.
