The SANDVIK COROMANT 6791126 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a BP insert style with a 0.5 inch cutting width, a neutral hand orientation, and a manufacturer grade of 235 applied through a CVD coating process with a TiCN over TiN finish. The overall length is 0.5945 inches and the insert thickness is 0.188 inches. The corner radius is 0.0299 inches nominal, with an ISO code of BP-500030 235. This insert is intended for use by machinists and toolroom technicians working in production and job-shop environments.
The 6791126 fits the SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max grooving system. It is suited for external grooving, face grooving, and parting on ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials where a 0.5 inch groove width is required. The neutral rake geometry makes it adaptable to both right-hand and left-hand toolholder configurations in that system. Typical applications include production turning of shafts, flanges, and hydraulic components where consistent groove geometry and surface finish are required. The multi-use designation indicates this insert supports grooving as well as turning passes within the same tool setup.
Designed for use in SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max series grooving and parting toolholders that accept a BP-style insert with a 0.375 seat size and 0.5 inch cutting width.
Insert installation should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle stopped and all axis motion disabled per shop lockout-tagout procedures. Use the appropriate SANDVIK COROMANT torx or hex key to seat the insert fully against the pocket walls before applying clamping torque. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before indexing or replacing the insert. Do not use a worn or damaged insert seat, as this can affect groove width tolerance and surface finish.
