The SANDVIK COROMANT 6633718 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert engineered for use in 880-series indexable drilling systems. Carrying manufacturer grade 4334 with a multilayer TiCN/Al2O3/TiN coating applied via the CWD process, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability during high-productivity drilling operations. The square insert profile features a GM chipbreaker geometry optimized for controlled chip evacuation. With an inscribed circle of 0.4193 inches (10.65 mm) and a corner radius of 0.0236 inches (0.60 mm), it suits precision hole-making in a range of workpiece materials. Installation and replacement are performed by machinists and toolroom technicians maintaining indexable drill tooling programs.
This insert is designed for right-hand cutting direction and fits 880-series indexable drill bodies accepting an 06P insert size with a 0.1575-inch (4.00 mm) mounting hole diameter. Typical applications include production drilling in metalworking environments such as machining centers, turning centers with live tooling, and dedicated drill presses. The multilayer coating makes it well suited for drilling carbon steels, alloy steels, and cast irons at elevated cutting parameters. It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 pieces.
Designed as a replacement insert for SANDVIK COROMANT 880-series indexable drill bodies accepting 06P square inserts with a 4.00 mm mounting hole. Confirm drill body insert seat specifications before installation.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the spindle locked out and the machine in a de-energized state per applicable lockout/tagout procedures. Use the correct Torx or hex key at the manufacturer-specified torque as indicated in the drill body documentation — do not over-torque the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket seat for debris or damage before seating the new insert. Handle carbide inserts with care to avoid chipping the cutting edges.
