The SANDVIK COROMANT 6633713 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert designed for use in 880-series indexable drills. This square-shaped insert features an 880GR chipbreaker geometry and carries a multi-layer TiCN/Al2O3/TiN coating applied via the CWD process, which improves wear resistance and extends tool life in demanding drilling operations. With an inscribed circle of 0.2913 inches (7.40 mm) and a corner radius of 0.028 inches (0.70 mm), it is engineered for right-hand cutting applications. Machinists and tool-room technicians working in metal-cutting environments install this insert as a standard replacement component in compatible 880-series drill bodies.
This insert is suited for industrial drilling applications in steel, cast iron, and similar workpiece materials where a multi-layer CVD-style coating provides thermal and abrasion resistance. The GR chipbreaker promotes controlled chip evacuation during through-hole and blind-hole drilling cycles. It is intended for use in CNC machining centers and turning centers equipped with 880-series indexable drill holders. Typical users include machinists and manufacturing engineers running production or job-shop drilling operations.
Designed as a replacement insert for SANDVIK COROMANT 880-series indexable drill bodies accepting a square 04P insert size with an 880GR chipbreaker. Refer to the 880-series drill body documentation to confirm correct insert seat and peripheral versus center insert position before ordering.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine in a de-energized, locked-out state per facility LOTO procedures. Use the appropriate Torx or insert-clamping wrench specified for the drill body to seat the insert without over-torquing the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping components for wear or debris before installing a new insert. Follow the drill body manufacturer tooling manual for proper seating confirmation before resuming cutting operations.
