Product Description

The SANDVIK COROMANT 6532048 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for use in the 345 cutter series. It carries the ANSI and ISO designation 345R-13T5M-MM S40T and is manufactured to grade S40T. The insert features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCrN, Al2O3, and TiN, providing wear resistance and heat tolerance during interrupted and continuous milling operations. With a square shape, negative rake geometry at 24 degrees, and eight available cutting edges on a double-sided body, this insert is engineered for productive metal removal in demanding machining environments. It is installed and changed by machinists and toolroom technicians in CNC milling applications.

This insert is suited for milling stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium — material grades M and S per ISO classification. The MM chip breaker geometry and right-hand orientation make it appropriate for medium-duty milling passes where controlled chip formation is critical. Maximum depth of cut reaches 6.00 mm (0.2362 inches), making it practical for both roughing and semi-finish passes on difficult-to-machine alloys. It is compatible with Series 345 milling cutter bodies and is held in place by a screw-type clamping method.

Key Features

  • Solid carbide substrate with CVD multilayer coating: TiCrN, Al2O3, and TiN for extended tool life in hard materials
  • Eight cutting edges per insert (double-sided) for maximum index value
  • MM chip breaker geometry optimized for stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium
  • Negative rake angle of 24 degrees with corner-rounded cutting edge style for edge strength
  • Maximum depth of cut of 6.00 mm (0.2362 inches)
  • Right-hand insert orientation; screw-held clamping method

Compatibility

Designed for use with SANDVIK COROMANT Series 345 milling cutter bodies. ANSI code: 345R-13T5M-MM S40T. ISO code: 345R-13T5M-MM S40T. Compatible with ISO material grades M (stainless steel) and S (superalloys and titanium).

Installation Notes

Insert replacement is performed by machinists or tool setters with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked. Use the correct Torx or hex key for the clamping screw as specified by the cutter body documentation — do not overtighten or estimate torque without the cutter body manufacturer guidance. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or damage before seating a new insert. Confirm insert orientation matches the right-hand designation of the cutter body before resuming operation.
