The SANDVIK COROMANT 6293038 is a solid carbide turning insert in the WNMG433MRR geometry, grade 1115, designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features a TiAlN and AlCr2O3 PVD coating applied over a carbide substrate, delivering thermal resistance and edge toughness in demanding cutting conditions. With an 80-degree trigon shape, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, and a 3/64-inch (0.0472-inch) corner radius, this insert suits medium to finishing passes. The chip breaker designation MRR is suited for medium material removal on stainless and other ISO M-code workpiece materials. Installed by CNC machinists and tool-crib professionals, it mounts using a clamp-and-pin holding method.
This insert is part of the T-Max P series, optimized for turning with positive cutting action and consistent chip control. Primary workpiece material code M indicates suitability for stainless steel and similar ISO M-group materials. Typical applications include external profile turning, facing, and light shoulder work on CNC turning centers. The neutral hand orientation allows use in standard right-hand toolholders configured for WNMG-style inserts. The G chip breaker geometry is designed to manage chips effectively during medium-depth passes up to a maximum depth of cut of 0.2949 inches (7.49 mm).
Designed for use in WNMG-style toolholders that accept a 0.5-inch inscribed circle insert with clamp-and-pin holding. ISO code WNMG080412MRR1115 can be used to confirm toolholder fitment. Primary workpiece material group is ISO M (stainless steel and similar alloys).
Insert replacement should be performed with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer when seating the insert. Inspect the insert pocket and locating pin for wear or debris before installing a new insert. Follow the toolholder OEM guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when handling carbide inserts, as edges are sharp.
