The SANDVIK COROMANT 6255549 is a hydraulic tool chuck designed for precision metal-cutting applications on CNC machining centers. It features a CAT50 taper shank for secure spindle engagement and accepts tooling with a 20 mm hole diameter. The chuck delivers a 89 mm projection length and a 38 mm nose diameter, making it well-suited for deep-reach and close-tolerance work. Balanced to 12,000 RPM, it supports high-speed cutting operations with minimal vibration. Through-coolant capability directs cutting fluid directly to the tool tip, extending tool life and improving chip evacuation in demanding machining environments. This chuck is installed and serviced by CNC machinists and toolroom technicians.
This hydraulic chuck is intended for use on CAT50-spindle vertical and horizontal machining centers in production and job-shop environments. Its hydraulic clamping mechanism provides consistent, repeatable runout performance suited for finishing operations, reaming, and precision boring where concentricity is critical. The 89 mm projection accommodates tooling reach requirements common in mold, die, and aerospace component machining. The through-coolant feature makes it compatible with high-pressure coolant systems found in modern machining centers.
Designed for use with CAT50-spindle CNC machining centers accepting standard taper-shank toolholders with through-coolant capability.
Installation and removal of spindle toolholders should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Use the appropriate CAT50 pull-stud and retention knob torqued to the machine manufacturer's specification. Inspect the taper shank and spindle bore for contamination or damage before seating the chuck. Verify through-coolant port alignment with the machine spindle before activating the coolant system.
