The SANDVIK COROMANT 6255486 is a hydraulic tool chuck with a C6 modular connection shank, designed for precision toolholding in CNC machining centers and turning centers. It accepts a 20 mm (0.7874 inches) bore diameter and delivers a 155 mm projection from the spindle face, giving machinists extended reach for deep-cavity work. The chuck clamps to a depth of 41 mm and is rated for operation up to 20,000 RPM. Through-coolant capability directs cutting fluid directly to the tool tip, improving chip evacuation and extending tool life in demanding cutting applications. This toolholder is installed and changed out by CNC setup technicians and machining specialists.
The 6255486 is suited for high-speed milling, drilling, and reaming operations where runout control and secure tool clamping are critical. The C6 modular connection interfaces with compatible C6 tooling systems on machining centers requiring extended-reach setups. Its 32 mm nose diameter and hydraulic expansion mechanism provide consistent, repeatable clamping force without the inconsistency associated with set-screw or collet-style holders. Typical applications include aerospace, die-and-mold, and general precision machining environments where spindle speed and tool stability directly affect surface finish and dimensional accuracy.
Designed as an OEM-style toolholder for use with C6 modular connection spindle interfaces on compatible CNC machining centers requiring a 20 mm bore hydraulic chuck with extended projection.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified CNC technicians with the machine spindle fully stopped and the machine placed in a safe, locked-out state per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Confirm the C6 taper interface is clean and free of chips or coolant residue before seating the chuck. Hydraulic chucks require no special tooling for clamping — use only the manufacturer-specified hex key for the hydraulic actuation port, and do not exceed the recommended clamping torque range for the bore size. Verify runout with a dial indicator after mounting before returning the spindle to operation.
