The SANDVIK COROMANT 6136050 is a CNMG432XMR GC30 indexable turning insert from the T-Max P series, designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert is manufactured from carbide substrate and coated via CVD with a multilayer TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN coating system, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability under continuous cutting loads. The 80-degree diamond shape (insert shape code C) provides two stable cutting edges per face for a total of four usable cutting edges. With a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch corner radius, this insert is suited for moderate to roughing depth-of-cut passes on steel and stainless steel workpieces.
This insert is primarily rated for steel (ISO material code P) and secondarily for stainless steel (ISO material code M). Typical applications include shaft turning, facing, and profiling on conventional and CNC turning equipment in job shop and production machining environments. The XMR chip breaker geometry is engineered to manage chip control across a range of feed rates. ISO code for this insert is CNMG120408XMRGC30. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in metalworking, tool and die, and general manufacturing are the primary users of this insert.
Designed for use in CNMG-style toolholders from the SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max P series that accept a 0.5-inch inscribed circle insert with clamp and pin holding. Compatible toolholders must match the CNMG insert style, neutral hand, and 3/16-inch insert thickness. ISO code CNMG120408XMRGC30 can be used to cross-reference compatible toolholder specifications.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamping hardware when seating the insert to ensure proper clamp and pin engagement. Inspect the insert pocket and locating surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert to prevent rocking or premature edge failure.
