The SANDVIK COROMANT 6136004 is a DNMG431XF GC30 grade indexable turning insert designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built from solid carbide with a CVD-applied TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN multilayer coating, this insert delivers controlled wear resistance and thermal protection during continuous and interrupted cuts. The 55-degree diamond insert shape (code D) provides a sharp, versatile geometry suited to profiling and finishing passes. The XF chip breaker geometry is engineered for light to moderate cuts on steel and stainless steel workpieces. Machinists and CNC operators install this insert as a standard indexable replacement in T-Max P toolholders.
This insert is rated for primary use on steel (ISO material code P) and secondary use on stainless steel (ISO material code M), covering a broad range of production turning applications in job shops and manufacturing environments. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with standard right-hand and left-hand T-Max P toolholder configurations without requiring a mirrored insert. Maximum depth of cut reaches 15.10 mm (0.5945 inches), supporting both finish and moderate semi-finish turning passes. The four available cutting edges extend tool life per package, reducing per-edge cost in high-volume operations.
Designed for use in SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max P series toolholders that accept DNMG insert style with clamp and pin holding. ISO code DNMG150404XF GC30. Compatible toolholder selection should match the DNMG insert style, 1/2 inch inscribed circle (12.70 mm), and 3/16 inch insert thickness (4.76 mm) per standard toolholder specifications.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket and verify the clamp and pin are secure before resuming cuts. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or wear debris that could affect seating and runout prior to each index.
