The SANDVIK COROMANT 6107709 is a WNMG432-XM GC15 grade solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features a dual-layer TiAlN and AlCr2O3 coating that supports high-speed cutting with extended tool life across a range of workpiece materials. With an 80-degree trigon geometry, a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle, and a 0.0313-inch corner radius, this insert delivers controlled chip formation and consistent surface finish. It is suited for licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production turning environments where insert geometry and grade consistency directly affect cycle time and part quality.
This insert is intended for use in turning applications where the WNMG style geometry and GC15 grade are specified. The trigon shape provides three cutting edges per insert, making it well-suited for general external turning, finishing, and light roughing passes. The chip breaker designation G supports controlled chip flow at moderate feed rates. It is commonly used in job shops and production facilities running steel and cast iron components. The insert mounts using either a clamp or pin holding method, depending on the toolholder configuration.
Designed as an OEM-style indexable replacement for WNMG432 turning insert seats using clamp or pin holding method toolholders conforming to the WNMG 08 04 08 ISO standard geometry.
Indexable turning inserts of this style are installed and replaced by qualified CNC machinists or tool crib personnel. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamping screw per the toolholder manufacturer specifications to secure the insert without cracking the carbide substrate. Inspect the insert seat and chip pocket for debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and accurate tool nose positioning.
