Product Description

The SANDVIK COROMANT 6107608 is a CNMG432-XM GC30 turning insert designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured from solid carbide with a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability across a range of metal-cutting conditions. The 80-degree diamond insert shape (Shape Code C) provides two strong cutting edges per corner, and the XM chip breaker geometry is engineered to control chip formation and reduce cutting forces. With a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle and a 0.0313-inch corner radius, this is a precision-ground, neutral-hand insert suited for production turning on steel and stainless steel workpieces.

This insert is primarily applied in turning operations on steel (ISO P) and secondarily on stainless steel (ISO M). The GC30 grade and XM chip breaker geometry make it well suited for medium to finishing passes where consistent chip control and surface finish matter. It belongs to the T-Max P series and carries the ISO designation CNMG 12 04 08-XM GC30. Installation requires a compatible CNMG-style toolholder using clamp and pin holding method. Minimum order quantity is 10 inserts; each package contains 1 insert.

Key Features

  • CVD multilayer coating: TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN for thermal and abrasion resistance
  • XM chip breaker geometry engineered for controlled chip formation on steel and stainless steel
  • 80-degree diamond shape (CNMG) with 4 cutting edges per insert for economical tool life
  • Neutral hand orientation compatible with both right- and left-hand toolholder setups
  • Precision tolerance code M with clearance code N for consistent seating and repeatability
  • Part of the T-Max P series, designed for external and internal turning on common CNC platforms

Compatibility

Designed for use in CNMG-style turning toolholders that accept clamp and pin insert-holding methods. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO P); secondary workpiece material is stainless steel (ISO M). ISO designation CNMG 12 04 08-XM GC30 can be referenced for cross-compatibility with compatible toolholder systems.

Installation Notes

This insert is installed and replaced by a machinist or CNC toolroom technician. Always power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket locating surfaces before tightening the clamp and pin to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert to avoid seating errors and premature edge failure.
