The SANDVIK COROMANT 6066615 is a DNMG-style solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Part of the T-Max P series, it carries a TiAlN2 coating applied via PVD process, which provides heat resistance and edge stability during interrupted and continuous cuts in difficult-to-machine materials. The insert measures 11.63 mm in length with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius. It features a neutral hand orientation and an SF chip breaker geometry engineered for controlled chip formation in stainless steel and superalloy applications. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC toolroom technicians in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is intended primarily for turning stainless steel (ISO material group M) and performs well in superalloy and titanium (ISO material group S) applications. The 55-degree diamond shape (D code) provides a favorable approach angle for profiling and facing operations where clearance and point strength are both required. The SF chip breaker geometry is suited to finishing and semi-finishing passes where chip control and surface finish are critical priorities in aerospace, medical, and oil-and-gas component machining.
Designed for use with DNMG-compatible toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle insert in the T-Max P series. ISO code DNMG 11 04 04-SF 1105 identifies the insert geometry and grade for toolholder and catalog cross-reference. Confirm toolholder seating pocket and clamping style (clamp and pin) before installation.
This insert is installed by qualified machinists or CNC toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully into the toolholder pocket and verify the clamping pin engages the insert hole before torquing the clamp screw. Inspect the cutting edge and chip breaker for damage before each use; do not continue running a chipped or cracked insert.
