The SANDVIK COROMANT 6035644 is a replaceable-tip drill body from the CoroDrill 870 series, designed for precision hole-making in metalworking and machining applications. It accepts 870-1290-11-PM style inserts at insert seat size 11, allowing fast tip changes without removing the body from the spindle. The drill covers a diameter range of 12.5 to 12.99 mm (0.4921 to 0.5114 inches) with a maximum drill depth of 40.97 mm (1.613 inches), corresponding to a 3xD depth-to-diameter ratio. Overall length is 104 mm (4.0945 inches). Through-coolant capability is built in, supporting high-pressure coolant delivery directly to the cutting zone for improved chip evacuation and tool life in production environments.
This drill body is suited for CNC machining centers and turning centers in industrial production environments. It is typically installed by machinists and tooling setup technicians in shops running ferrous and non-ferrous materials where consistent, repeatable hole tolerances are required. The straight-cylindrical shank style and 870 LX-3 toolholder compatibility make it straightforward to mount in standard collet chucks or dedicated CoroDrill 870 toolholders. It is appropriate for medium-volume to high-volume production runs where insert indexability and coolant-through performance are priorities.
Compatible with 870-1290-11-PM style replaceable-tip inserts at insert seat size 11. Designed for use with the 870 LX-3 toolholder style within the CoroDrill 870 system.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is de-energized before mounting or changing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert screws specified for the CoroDrill 870 system when seating replaceable tips. Verify through-coolant connections are clear and properly pressurized before initiating a drilling cycle.
