The SANDVIK COROMANT 5915113 is a TNMG432-SM 1125 grade carbide turning insert designed for precision metal removal in demanding CNC lathe and turning center applications. The insert features a dual-layer PVD coating of TiAlN and AlCr2O3, which provides heat resistance and wear protection at elevated cutting temperatures. The triangular insert shape delivers six usable cutting edges per insert, extending tool life between changeovers. The SM chip breaker geometry is engineered for controlled chip formation when cutting difficult-to-machine materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production environments will find this insert well suited to high-feed and finishing passes where edge stability and coating adhesion are critical.
This insert is part of the SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max P series and is primarily specified for turning stainless steel. Secondary workpiece materials include superalloys and titanium, making this insert applicable in aerospace, medical, and energy sector component machining. The neutral hand orientation allows use in both left-hand and right-hand tool holders. The SM chip breaker geometry suits both finishing and light roughing passes on these work materials. The insert seats via clamp and pin holding, which is standard in T-Max P compatible tooling systems.
Designed for use in SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max P series turning tool holders that accept TNMG-style inserts with clamp and pin holding. ISO code TNMG 22 04 08-SM 1125 may be used to identify equivalent holders and tooling systems from compatible manufacturers.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician with the machine spindle fully stopped and all axes locked. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to the tool holder manufacturer's specified seating procedure when securing the clamp. Inspect the insert pocket and locating pin for chips or debris before seating a new edge. Follow the cutting parameter recommendations in the SANDVIK COROMANT grade data for the specific workpiece material and operation type.
