The SANDVIK COROMANT 5915062 is a DNMG432-SM 1115 series turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on difficult-to-machine materials. This solid carbide insert features a dual-layer TiAlN and AlCr2O3 coating applied via PVD process, providing thermal resistance and edge durability under demanding cut conditions. The 55-degree diamond shape (Insert Shape Code D) delivers strong cutting geometry with four available cutting edges per insert. At 0.252 inches in length with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a 0.0313-inch corner radius, this insert is sized for moderate depth-of-cut finishing and semi-finishing passes. It carries a neutral hand orientation and fits standard DNMG toolholders using clamp and pin holding methods.
This insert is engineered primarily for stainless steel (ISO Material Code M) with secondary capability on superalloys and titanium (ISO Material Code S). It is well suited for CNC turning centers and lathes running production or job-shop work where edge consistency and coating life on work-hardening materials are critical. The SM chip breaker geometry is optimized for controlled chip flow and reduced built-up edge on austenitic stainless grades and nickel-based superalloys.
