The insert features a TiAlN and AlCr2O3 dual coating applied via PVD process, providing thermal resistance and wear protection at elevated cutting temperatures. It carries a neutral hand orientation and an 80-degree trigon (W) insert shape with a 0.031 inches corner radius. With 6 available cutting edges and an SMR chip breaker geometry, this insert is suited for medium to finishing passes where chip control and surface finish consistency are critical. This insert is engineered primarily for machining stainless steel (ISO material code M) and is rated for secondary use on superalloys and titanium (ISO material code S). Compatible workpiece materials include stainless steel (ISO code M), superalloys, and titanium (ISO code S). ISO designation WNMG080408-SMR 1115 can be used to verify fitment with metric-referenced toolholder specifications.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine in a fully stopped and locked-out state per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamping hardware when seating the insert in the toolholder pocket. Inspect the insert pocket and locating surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert. Do not attempt to use a visually chipped or fractured insert edge, as this can result in workpiece damage or toolholder failure.
