The SANDVIK COROMANT 5891402 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert in the DNMG433-SF H13A designation, designed for use in the T-Max P series tooling system. It features a 55-degree diamond insert shape with a neutral hand orientation, a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, a 3/64-inch (0.0469 inch) corner radius, and a 3/16-inch insert thickness. The SF chip breaker geometry and rounded cutting edge style make this insert well suited for finishing and semi-finishing operations. With four cutting edges per insert, this grade is optimized for stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. It is installed by machinists and tooling technicians on CNC lathes and turning centers.
This insert is intended for metal-cutting applications where controlled chip formation and edge integrity are critical. Primary workpiece material is stainless steel (ISO material code M), with secondary suitability for superalloys and titanium (ISO material code S). The T-Max P series designation indicates compatibility with Sandvik Coromant's T-Max P turning toolholders that accept DNMG-style inserts. Typical applications include external and internal turning on precision components in aerospace, energy, and industrial manufacturing environments. The SF geometry is particularly effective at moderate cutting depths up to 6.40 mm.
Designed for use in T-Max P series turning toolholders accepting DNMG-style inserts. Compatible with toolholders specifying a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, clearance code N, and tolerance code M. ISO designation DNMG150412-SF H13A.
Insert replacement and seating should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine fully powered down and in a safe, locked-out state. Ensure the insert pocket, clamp, and pin are clean and free of chips before seating the new insert. Use the appropriate torque wrench per the toolholder manufacturer's clamping specifications. Verify insert orientation and chip breaker direction before resuming cutting operations.
