The SANDVIK COROMANT 5891389 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert in the CNMG432SF H13A configuration, belonging to the T-Max P series. It features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape with a negative side clearance and is designed for finishing operations. The inscribed circle measures 0.5000 inches (12.70 mm), the corner radius is 1/32 inch (0.0315 inches), and the insert length is 0.5079 inches (12.90 mm). With four cutting edges and compatibility with both clamp and pin holding methods, this insert is suited for high-precision turning applications on a range of workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists are the primary installers.
This insert is intended for use in turning operations on stainless steel as the primary workpiece material, with superalloys and titanium listed as secondary materials. The H13A grade delivers high wear resistance to moderate wear resistance and toughness across cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and special or super alloy materials. It is well suited to both light finishing passes and applications where consistent surface finish and edge integrity are critical, making it a practical choice for production turning environments in aerospace, general machining, and precision manufacturing settings.
Designed as an OEM-specification replacement and standard-production turning insert for toolholders accepting CNMG432 (ANSI) or CNMG120408 (ISO) insert geometry with clamp or pin holding. Verify toolholder specifications before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and locked out before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten or under-tighten the clamp screw. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for wear or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper edge alignment.
