The SANDVIK COROMANT 5857586 is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for external thread cutting operations. Part of the CoroThread 266 series, this insert carries a TiCrAlN/TiN PVD coating that provides wear resistance and thermal stability during threading. It cuts right-hand external 60-degree V threads in the 12-24 TPI range, covering metric pitches from 1.00 to 2.00 mm. The inscribed circle measures 3/8 inches (9.53 mm), thickness is 5/32 inches (3.97 mm), and the corner radius is 0.13 mm. Manufactured under grade 1135, this insert is suited for threading ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces on CNC lathes and turning centers.
This insert is intended for use in precision machining environments where repeatable thread form and surface finish are required. The F chipbreaker geometry and single-tooth-per-side configuration make it appropriate for threading applications on turning centers in job shops, production facilities, and contract machining operations. It fits toolholders and boring bars within the CoroThread 266 system. This is a per-unit sale with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use with CoroThread 266 series toolholders and turning system components that accept insert style 266, size code 16 laydown threading inserts.
This insert is installed and serviced by machinists or CNC turning center operators. Power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Seat the insert firmly in the pocket and verify clamp torque per the toolholder manufacturer specifications before starting a cut. Inspect the insert seating surface and pocket for chips or debris prior to installation to ensure accurate thread form.
