The SANDVIK COROMANT 5853555 is a solid carbide round milling insert in the RCKT series, designed for indexable face and shoulder milling operations on stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. It carries a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCrN, Al2O3, and TiN — grade S40T — which provides heat resistance and wear protection in demanding cuts. The insert measures 0.75 inches in inscribed circle diameter and 0.25 inches thick, with a 0.375-inch corner radius and 8 available cutting edges. Neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable to a range of cutter body configurations. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians working in aerospace, medical, and energy sector machining are the primary installers.
This insert is intended for use in milling applications where the primary workpiece materials are stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium — material groups M and S per ISO classification. The PM chip breaker geometry and positive rake angle help manage chip formation and cutting forces in these notoriously tough-to-machine alloys. Maximum depth of cut is 0.1098 inches (2.79 mm). The insert is confirmed compatible with the RA200 cutter series from SANDVIK COROMANT. ANSI and ISO code: RCKT 19 06 00-PM S40T.
Confirmed compatible with the SANDVIK COROMANT RA200 cutter series. ANSI and ISO designation RCKT 19 06 00-PM S40T. Insert size code 190600. Designed for OEM-style replacement use in RCKT-series indexable milling cutter bodies accepting a 0.75-inch inscribed circle round insert.
Insert seating and torque should follow the cutter body manufacturer specification sheet for the RA200 or applicable RCKT-series body — do not overtighten the clamping screw, as this can fracture the carbide. Inspect the insert pocket seat and clamping screw threads for wear or contamination before indexing. Always power down and lock out the spindle before changing inserts. Proper insert orientation relative to the pocket locating features must be confirmed before resuming cuts in stainless or superalloy workpieces, where re-entry under incorrect seating can cause rapid edge failure.
