The SANDVIK COROMANT 5853215 is a solid carbide indexable boring bar from the CoroTurn 107 series, designed for internal turning operations on CNC lathes and machining centers. With a minimum bore diameter of 0.4803 inches and a 3/8-inch shank diameter, this bar is built for small-bore precision work. The overall length is 6 inches, the lead angle is -5 degrees, and the neutral rake angle is 0 degrees. Coolant-through capability helps evacuate chips and control heat in deep or tight bore applications. The screw-clamp insert holding method provides rigid, repeatable seating. Installed by machinists and toolroom technicians in production and job-shop environments.
This boring bar is suited for left-hand internal turning in both production and prototype machining scenarios. The CoroTurn 107 series is a recognized platform for small-diameter boring with solid carbide shanks, offering reduced vibration compared to steel-shank alternatives. The bar accepts CCMT 06 02 04 inserts and supports multi-use turning applications where consistent bore geometry is required. Typical installations occur in CNC turning centers where tight tolerances and fine surface finishes are priorities. The coolant-through design makes it well suited for materials that generate significant heat or where chip control is critical.
Designed for use with CCMT 06 02 04 inserts. Part of the SANDVIK COROMANT CoroTurn 107 series for small-diameter solid carbide boring bar applications.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and all axes are at a safe position before changing or adjusting the boring bar. Verify shank clamping torque per the machine tool manufacturer specifications and confirm insert seating before taking a test cut. Do not exceed the minimum bore diameter rating, as deflection and tool failure risk increase significantly below the rated minimum.
