The SANDVIK COROMANT 5781912 is a solid carbide laydown threading insert engineered for external UN thread cutting at 8 threads per inch (TPI). Part of the CoroThread 266 series, this right-hand insert features a PVD-applied TiCrAlN and TiAlN dual coating for wear resistance and thermal stability in threading operations. The 60-degree included angle matches the UN thread form standard. With a 3/8 inch (9.53 mm) inscribed circle and 5/32 inch (0.1563 inch decimal) thickness, the insert seats securely in compatible 266-series toolholders. It carries manufacturer grade 1125 and chipbreaker designation A. Installation is performed by machining professionals on CNC turning centers and manual lathes.
This insert is suited for external UN threading applications on turning equipment in production and job-shop environments. The CoroThread 266 platform is designed for consistent thread form accuracy on steel, alloy, and similar workpiece materials. The single-tooth-per-side geometry and PVD coating combination supports controlled chip formation across a range of cutting conditions. It is sold individually but is subject to a minimum order quantity of 10 pieces per order.
Designed for use with SANDVIK COROMANT CoroThread 266 series toolholders that accept the 16 insert size code. The manufacturers catalog number for this insert is 266RG-16UN01A080M 1125. Confirm toolholder seat dimensions and insert size code before installation.
This insert is installed and changed by machinists or tooling technicians on CNC or manual turning equipment. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the clamping screw - do not exceed the fastener torque guidance provided in the toolholder documentation. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or damage before seating the new insert.
