The SANDVIK COROMANT 5765716 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert engineered for use in 880-series indexable drill bodies. It carries the 1044 manufacturer grade and features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability in demanding drilling applications. The insert has a square shape with the GM chipbreaker geometry, an inscribed circle of 0.2677 inches (6.80 mm), a corner radius of 0.0197 inches (0.50 mm), and a thickness of 0.1102 inches (2.80 mm). This insert is installed by machinists and tooling technicians working in metal cutting, drilling, and hole-making operations on CNC machining centers and drill presses.
This insert is suited for indexable drilling operations in both production and job-shop environments. The GM chipbreaker geometry is designed to handle a range of workpiece materials where controlled chip formation is critical. The square insert style and 04C insert size make it a direct fit for compatible 880-series drill bodies. It is commonly used in operations involving steel and other ferrous materials where PVD TiAlN coatings provide an advantage in tool life and cutting performance.
Designed for use with SANDVIK COROMANT 880-series indexable drill bodies that accept the 04C square insert seat. Specific host body compatibility should be verified against the 880-series tooling documentation prior to installation.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine spindle fully stopped and the tool body secured in a vise or tool holder. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key as specified by the drill body manufacturer when seating and torquing the insert screw. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for debris or damage before installing a new insert. Never force an insert into a misaligned pocket, as this can fracture the carbide and damage the seat.
