The SANDVIK COROMANT 5765501 is a CoroDrill 880 series indexable insert drill designed for high-productivity hole-making in metal cutting applications. It accepts two indexable inserts and features a modular connection shank in C5 size, allowing it to interface with compatible tooling systems without a fixed solid shank. The drill produces holes up to 36mm in diameter at a maximum drill depth of 112mm, following a 3xD depth-to-diameter ratio. The body is constructed of steel and supports coolant-through capability, which aids in chip evacuation and insert life during deep-hole operations. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary users of this tooling.
This drill is suited for production machining environments where indexable tooling is preferred over solid carbide for cost-per-hole efficiency. The CoroDrill 880 style is commonly applied in vertical machining centers, horizontal machining centers, and turning centers equipped with live tooling. The modular C5 connection makes it compatible with quick-change tooling systems. It is appropriate for right-hand cutting operations in steel, cast iron, and similar workpiece materials in both roughing and semi-finishing hole applications.
Compatible insert styles include 880-070406H-C-GM and 880-0704W06H-P-GM as specified by the manufacturer. The modular C5 connection interfaces with tooling adapters and holders designed for the C5 modular standard. Designed for use within the CoroDrill 880 system.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Before mounting or changing inserts, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped, locked out, and all power is isolated per facility lockout-tagout procedures. Torque insert screws and modular connection components according to the toolholder manufacturer documentation supplied with the product. Verify coolant-through passages are clear and flow is confirmed before starting the cut.
