The SANDVIK COROMANT 5757863 is a laydown threading insert engineered for right-hand external Acme thread cutting on CNC lathes and threading operations. Part of the CoroThread 266 series, it is manufactured from solid carbide with a PVD-applied TiN coating to extend edge life and resist built-up edge formation. The insert produces 6 threads per inch (TPI) with a 60-degree included angle and carries a 1/2-inch (12.70 mm) inscribed circle. At 5.56 mm (0.2190 inches) thick, it seats positively in compatible 266-series toolholders. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists install this insert in production and job-shop environments where Acme thread accuracy and repeatability are required.
This insert is suited for external Acme thread turning on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces in both production and short-run applications. The F chipbreaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation across a range of feed rates typical to Acme thread profiles. The 1020 manufacturer grade designation identifies the specific carbide substrate and coating combination selected for this thread form and cutting condition range. It is sold individually per package with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use in SANDVIK COROMANT CoroThread 266 series toolholders accepting insert style 266, size code 22, with a 5.70 mm hole diameter. Specific toolholder compatibility should be verified against the CoroThread 266 system documentation prior to installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC turning specialist with the machine powered down and in a locked-out state before insert exchange. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the insert clamp; do not exceed the clamping torque range indicated on the toolholder documentation. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert. Verify thread form and pitch against a thread gauge on the first part before running production quantities.
