The SANDVIK COROMANT 5757202 is a solid carbide turning insert in the WPMT trigon style, designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Part of the CoroTurn 111 series, it carries a manufacturer grade of 2025 and features a multilayer TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN coating applied over a carbide substrate. The inscribed circle measures 5/32 inches (0.1563 inches decimal), the corner radius is 1/64 inches (0.0157 inches decimal), and the insert length is 2.61 mm. With a neutral hand orientation and a screw-insert holding method, it is installed by machinists and CNC operators in production and maintenance machining environments.
This insert is primarily intended for machining stainless steel (ISO material code M) and fits turning applications where tight tolerances and a fine surface finish are required. The MF chipbreaker geometry is suited for light to medium finishing passes where chip control on difficult-to-machine alloys is critical. It is appropriate for use in both production shop environments and maintenance machining of stainless components, including fittings, valve bodies, and precision hardware. The 80-degree included angle of the trigon shape provides three cutting edges per insert.

Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC technician with the machine fully stopped and the spindle locked out per the applicable lockout/tagout procedure. Use the correct Torx or hex key at the manufacturer-recommended torque for the insert screw — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the insert or damage the seat. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seat for chips or damage before seating the insert. Verify tool offset and runout after each insert change before returning the machine to production.
