The SANDVIK COROMANT 5756618 is a solid carbide turning insert carrying the ANSI designation WNMG432WF and ISO code WNMG080408WF1125. It features an 80-degree trigon shape with a neutral hand orientation, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch (0.0315-inch) corner radius. The insert is PVD-coated with a TiAlN and AlCr2O3 multilayer finish, placing it in manufacturer grade 1125. The WF chip breaker geometry is engineered for wiper finishing operations, providing a superior surface finish at increased feed rates. Six cutting edges are available per insert. It is installed by licensed machinists and CNC turning professionals on indexable toolholders using clamp or pin holding methods.
This insert is designed for finish turning applications on steel and stainless steel workpieces, corresponding to ISO material groups M and S. Grade 1125 delivers high to moderate wear resistance against stainless steel and moderate wear resistance with toughness for special and super alloys. It is suited to light finishing passes where tight surface finish tolerances are required. The T-Max P series designation indicates compatibility with SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max P toolholder systems designed for external turning operations in both production and job-shop environments.
Designed for use with SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max P series indexable turning toolholders that accept WNMG-style inserts with clamp or pin retention. Compatible with ANSI size code 432 and ISO size code 080402 toolholder seats.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten the clamp screw, as this can fracture the carbide insert body. Inspect the toolholder seat and clamp for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
