The SANDVIK COROMANT 5756488 is a WNMG432-MF 2025 series turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built from solid carbide with a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability during continuous and interrupted cuts. It carries a neutral hand designation, an 80-degree trigon (W-shape) insert geometry, and an MF chip breaker optimized for medium finishing passes. The 2025 manufacturer grade is specifically formulated for primary use on stainless steel workpieces, making it a go-to choice for machinists working ISO material group M applications. Six usable cutting edges per insert maximize tool economy.
This insert fits the Sandvik T-Max P toolholding system and is suited for medium finishing to light roughing operations on stainless steel and similar ISO-M materials in both production and job-shop environments. Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and toolroom technicians typically install and index these inserts during scheduled tool changes or when edge wear reaches the end of service life. The MF chip breaker geometry promotes reliable chip control at moderate feed rates and shallow to medium depths of cut, reducing the risk of chip tangling on long-chip materials such as austenitic stainless steel.
Designed for use in Sandvik T-Max P series toolholders that accept WNMG insert style with clamp and pin holding. Primary workpiece material is stainless steel (ISO material group M). Verify toolholder pocket dimensions and clamping style before indexing.
CNC machinists and toolroom technicians should power down the spindle and engage the machine lockout before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamping hardware when seating the insert to ensure proper contact with the toolholder pocket. Inspect the pocket seat and clamping pin for wear or debris before installing a fresh edge. Follow the machine shop safety procedures and applicable workplace standards when handling carbide inserts, as edges are extremely sharp.
