The SANDVIK COROMANT 5756486 is a WNMG432-MF 1125 series turning insert designed for indexable tooling systems used in CNC and manual turning operations. Built from solid carbide with a TiAlN and AlCr2O3 dual-layer coating applied via PVD process, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability when cutting difficult materials. The neutral-hand insert features an 80-degree trigon (W) shape, a 0.3105-inch insert length, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. It carries a tolerance code of M and a clearance code of N. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments rely on this geometry for precision turning passes on challenging alloys.
This insert is engineered primarily for stainless steel workpieces and is also rated for superalloys and titanium as secondary workpiece materials, per SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max P series application guidelines. The MF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing and light-to-medium roughing cuts on these hard-to-machine material groups. Typical applications include shaft turning, facing, and profiling operations on components common in aerospace, medical, and chemical processing industries. Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered down and spindle locked. Use the appropriate torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamping hardware when seating the insert to avoid micro-fractures in the carbide substrate. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Follow your facility safety procedures and applicable OSHA machining guidelines during all tooling changes.
