The SANDVIK COROMANT 5756158 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert designed for use in indexable insert drills in metal-cutting operations. Manufactured to the WCMX insert style with a Trigon (7-degree included angle) shape, this insert carries a CVD-applied TiCN/TiN coating that provides wear resistance and heat dissipation during high-speed drilling. The inscribed circle measures 0.375 inches (9.53 mm), thickness is 0.1563 inches (5/32 inch), and the corner radius is 0.0315 inches (0.80 mm). The 53 chipbreaker geometry helps control chip flow in through-hole and blind-hole drilling applications. Grade 235 designation identifies the substrate and coating combination suited to steel and cast iron drilling. Installed and serviced by machinist or toolroom personnel.
This insert is intended for use in indexable drill bodies that accept WCMX-style inserts at the peripheral or center position. It is configured for right-hand cutting direction and suits typical CNC machining center and lathe drilling operations in production and job-shop environments. The 7-degree relief angle and Trigon shape make this insert appropriate for drilling into steel and similar ferrous materials at moderate to high feed rates. The hole diameter of the mounting hole is 0.1457 inches (3.70 mm), which must be matched to the compatible drill body screw specification before installation.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement indexable drill insert for drill bodies that accept WCMX-style inserts with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a mounting hole diameter of 0.1457 inches.
Indexable drill inserts are installed and indexed by qualified machinist or toolroom personnel. Before changing inserts, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is placed in a safe, locked-out state per applicable shop safety procedures. Use the correct torx or hex key to the insert screw specification listed by the drill body manufacturer — do not overtighten or undertighten the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
