The SANDVIK COROMANT 5756060 is a VNMG332-MM 1115 grade solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a dual-layer TiAlN and AlCr2O3 coating applied via PVD process, delivering thermal resistance and edge durability during interrupted and continuous cuts. The insert measures 0.6223 inches in length with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch corner radius. The 35-degree diamond shape (V) with a neutral hand orientation and MM chip breaker geometry makes it well suited for controlled chip formation in demanding turning applications. Four cutting edges per insert extend tool life and reduce per-edge cost.
This insert is optimized primarily for stainless steel (ISO material code M) and secondarily for superalloys and titanium (ISO material code S). It fits standard VNMG toolholders using clamp and pin holding methods. Typical applications include finish to semi-finish turning passes on aerospace, medical, and industrial components where chip control and surface finish consistency are critical. The T-Max P series designation reflects its positioning in general-purpose external turning. It is installed and managed by CNC machinists and tooling specialists in production shop environments.
Designed for use in standard VNMG-style toolholders that accept clamp and pin retention. Part of the SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max P series. ISO designation VNMG 16 04 08-MM 1115.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered down and the spindle locked before indexing or replacing inserts. Verify the toolholder pocket and seating surface are clean and free of debris before placing the insert to ensure accurate seating and prevent premature edge failure. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque guidance for the clamping screw — do not overtighten. Confirm insert orientation and hand designation match the toolholder specification before resuming operation.
