The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755995 is a VNMG331-MF 235 series turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. Made from solid carbide with a CVD-applied TiCN and TiN coating, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability in demanding turning operations. It features a 35-degree diamond insert shape, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/64-inch corner radius, making it well suited for finishing and medium finishing passes. With four cutting edges and a neutral hand orientation, it offers economical usage across high-volume production environments. Machinists and CNC operators install this insert as part of the T-Max P series tooling system.
This insert is intended for turning steel and stainless steel workpieces, corresponding to ISO material groups P and M. The MF chip breaker geometry is optimized for light to medium cutting depths where controlled chip formation is critical. Typical applications include external turning and profiling on general-purpose lathes in job shop and production machining environments. The clamp and pin holding method provides secure seating in compatible T-Max P toolholders. This insert is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use with T-Max P series toolholders that accept VNMG-style inserts with a clamp and pin holding method. ISO designation VNMG 16 04 04-MF 235 can be used to cross-reference compatible toolholder systems.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp hardware specified for T-Max P toolholders - do not overtighten the clamping screw, as this can damage the insert seat or chip breaker geometry. Inspect the insert pocket and pin for wear or debris before installing a new insert.
