The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755977 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Designated VNMG331-QM H13A, this insert features a 35-degree diamond shape (V-style) with a neutral hand orientation and the QM chip breaker geometry. It measures 0.638 inches in length with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius. The H13A uncoated carbide grade makes it well suited for finishing and semi-finishing cuts on steel and stainless steel where coating adhesion or heat sensitivity is a concern. Machinists and CNC operators working in production turning environments are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is intended for turning applications on steel (ISO material code P) and stainless steel (ISO material code M). The QM chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium to finishing passes where consistent chip control and surface finish are priorities. It seats in standard VNMG-style toolholders using a clamp and pin holding method, making it compatible with common wedge-clamp and screw-clamp turning tool bodies used in production and job-shop environments. The T-Max P series designation indicates suitability for general external turning operations on conventional and high-production CNC turning equipment.
Designed for use in VNMG-style turning toolholders compatible with the T-Max P series. ISO insert designation is VNMG 16 04 04-QM H13A. Insert size code 331. Suitable for turning steel and stainless steel workpiece materials per ISO material codes P and M.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque driver for the clamp or pin fastener specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not over-tighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new cutting edge.
