The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755933 is a solid carbide turning insert from the CoroTurn 107 series, designed for precision external and internal turning operations. Carrying grade 1115 with a PVD-applied TiAlN and AlCr2O3 dual-layer coating, this insert is built for high-performance cutting in demanding materials. The 35-degree diamond (V) shape paired with a UM chip breaker geometry delivers controlled chip formation and edge stability at elevated cutting speeds. The screw-clamping holding method ensures secure, repeatable seating in compatible toolholders. Primary applications target stainless steel, with secondary suitability for superalloys and titanium. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists are the typical end users for this insert.
This insert is suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes on CNC lathes and turning centers processing difficult-to-machine materials. The UM chip breaker is optimized for stainless steel and superalloy applications where chip control and surface finish are critical. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with standard right-hand and left-hand toolholder configurations in the CoroTurn 107 system. Typical install environments include precision machining shops, aerospace component manufacturing, and energy-sector part production where tight tolerances on stainless and nickel-alloy workpieces are required.
Designed for use in CoroTurn 107 series toolholders that accept VCGT-style inserts with a screw-clamping holding method. ISO code VCGT 11 03 04-UM 1115 can be used to confirm compatible toolholder and shim seat pairing.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is clear of the workpiece before seating or replacing the insert. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to torque the clamping screw per the toolholder manufacturer specification — do not over-tighten, as this can fracture the carbide. Inspect the insert pocket and shim seat for chips or debris before placing a new insert.
