The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755924 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. Carrying the VCEX2200R-F 1105 designation within the CoroTurn 107 series, this insert features a 35-degree diamond (V) shape and a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process for elevated hot hardness and oxidation resistance at cutting speeds common in steel and stainless steel machining. The inscribed circle measures 0.25 inches (6.35 mm), insert length is 11.70 mm, and the corner radius is 0.02 mm, making it suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes where edge sharpness and surface finish are critical. Installation is screw-held. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary users.
This insert is rated for primary use on steel (ISO material code P) and secondary use on stainless steel (ISO material code M), covering a wide range of turning applications in production machining shops, job shops, and maintenance environments. The F chip breaker geometry supports light to moderate depth-of-cut scenarios, producing controlled chip formation on ductile workpiece materials. Designed for use in SANDVIK COROMANT CoroTurn 107 series toolholders that accept VCEX-style, screw-clamped turning inserts with a V insert shape code. Compatible toolholders must accommodate an inscribed circle of 0.25 inches and insert thickness of 0.125 inches. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and screw hole diameter (2.80 mm) before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Before indexing or replacing inserts, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the program is in a safe state. Use the correct Torx or hex key per the toolholder manufacturer's torque specification for the clamping screw — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and edge registration.
