The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755915 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert in the CoroTurn 107 series, designed for precision external turning operations. Carrying insert designation VCGX331-AL H10, it features a 35-degree diamond shape with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle and a 1/64 inch corner radius. The substrate is uncoated bright carbide in grade H10, optimized for clean, low-heat cutting. Primary application is non-ferrous metal machining, including aluminum and similar materials. With two usable cutting edges per insert, it is a cost-effective option for high-finish turning passes. Licensed machinists and CNC turning-center operators are the primary installers.
This insert is engineered for turning non-ferrous metals, with aluminum as the primary target workpiece material. Secondary suitability extends to superalloys and titanium. The XF chip breaker geometry and polished AL edge prep promote free-cutting action and reduced built-up edge on sticky, soft, or gummy materials. It is a neutral-hand insert compatible with screw-lock toolholders, making it suitable for both OD turning and contouring in standard CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert follows ISO code VCGX 16 04 04-AL H10.
Designed for use in SANDVIK COROMANT CoroTurn 107 series screw-lock turning toolholders accepting VCGX-style inserts with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle. Primary workpiece material compatibility is non-ferrous metal (N); secondary compatibility includes superalloys and titanium (S).
Insert seating and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out state. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specification — do not over-tighten, as this can crack the carbide substrate. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a fresh insert. Handle carbide inserts with care; edges are brittle and can chip if dropped or impacted.
