The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755908 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured under the CoroTurn 107 series, this insert features a VCET style with a 35-degree diamond shape and a 7-degree relief angle. The dual-layer TiAlN and AlCr2O3 coating is applied via PVD process, delivering strong oxidation resistance and edge stability at elevated cutting temperatures. With a 0.25-inch inscribed circle and a 0.0079-inch (0.20 mm) corner radius, this insert is suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes where tight tolerances are required. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in metalworking shops are the primary users.
This insert is optimized for machining steel as its primary workpiece material. It is also rated for use on stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, N, and S. The UM chip breaker geometry is engineered for universal medium-depth cuts with reliable chip control across this range of materials. The screw-clamping holding method suits standard CoroTurn 107 toolholders with the appropriate clamp and shim configuration. Typical applications include shaft turning, facing, and profiling operations in both job-shop and production environments.
Designed for use with CoroTurn 107 series toolholders that accept VCET-style inserts with a screw-clamping holding method. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium (ISO codes P, M, N, S). ISO insert designation: VCET 11 03 02-UM 1125.
This insert is installed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Before indexing or replacing the insert, the machine spindle must be fully stopped and locked out per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Use the correct Torx or hex key for the clamping screw as specified by the toolholder documentation. Inspect the insert seat and shim for wear or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and cutting-edge repeatability.
