The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755895 is a solid carbide turning insert in VCGT style, designed for precision turning of difficult-to-machine materials including stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. It carries a TiAlN and AlCr2O3 dual-layer PVD coating for heat resistance and edge stability at elevated cutting temperatures. The 35-degree diamond insert shape delivers a sharp, low-force cutting geometry suited to finishing and semi-finishing passes. With a 1/4-inch inscribed circle, a 0.4280-inch length, and a 0.20 mm corner radius, this insert is sized for light to medium depths of cut. It belongs to the CoroTurn 107 series and is installed by CNC machinists and toolroom operators working on lathes and turning centers.
This insert is applied in turning operations where surface finish and dimensional accuracy on difficult workpiece materials are the priority. Stainless steel is the primary target material, with superalloys and titanium as secondary applications. The neutral hand orientation makes it suitable for a range of toolholder orientations. The UM chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing cuts on these materials, helping to control chip formation and reduce built-up edge. It is screw-held in compatible VCGT-style toolholders and is typically used in ISO M and S material classifications per ISO turning insert standards.
Designed for use in VCGT-style screw-clamp toolholders compatible with the CoroTurn 107 series. Primary workpiece material is stainless steel (ISO M); secondary workpiece materials are superalloys and titanium (ISO S). ISO insert code VCGT 11 03 02-UM 1115.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom operators. Power down and lock out the spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder — do not overtighten, as this can chip the insert or damage the seating pocket. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or contamination before installing a new edge.
