The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755862 is a solid carbide turning insert in the VBMT332-UR 235 configuration, part of the CoroTurn 107 series. It features a CVD-applied TiCN and TiN dual-layer coating over a carbide substrate, providing wear resistance and heat management during continuous and interrupted turning operations. The insert has a 35-degree diamond shape (V), a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 1/32-inch corner radius, and a neutral hand orientation. With two cutting edges per insert, it is suited for general turning applications targeting steel and stainless steel workpieces. Machinists and CNC operators install this insert in screw-lock toolholders designed for the VBMT seat style.
This insert is intended for external turning on CNC lathes and turning centers in production and job-shop environments. Its primary workpiece material classification is steel (ISO code P), with a secondary rating for stainless steel (ISO code M). The UR chip breaker geometry supports medium finishing to light roughing passes. The ISO designation VBMT 16 04 08-UR 235 allows cross-referencing with compatible toolholder systems. Applications include shaft turning, facing, and profiling on mild steel, alloy steel, and austenitic stainless grades.
Designed for use with VBMT-style screw-lock toolholders compatible with CoroTurn 107 series inserts. ISO code VBMT 16 04 08-UR 235 can be used to identify compatible toolholder seat specifications from multiple manufacturers.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket before tightening the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque range. Inspect the insert seat and screw threads for chips or contamination before each insert index to maintain edge repeatability and prevent pocket damage.
