The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755750 is a VBMT332-UM solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert carries a TiCN and TiN coating over a carbide substrate, improving wear resistance and tool life on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. It features a 35-degree diamond shape (V-code) with a 5-degree relief angle and a 0.0313-inch corner radius, making it well suited for finishing and light semi-finishing passes where edge sharpness and surface finish are the priorities. Cutting professionals and CNC machinists working in job shops, production environments, and maintenance machine shops are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is intended for external and internal turning operations on steel, stainless, and similar materials where a sharp, low-included-angle diamond geometry provides good clearance and reduces radial cutting forces. The UM chip breaker geometry is optimized for light-to-medium depth cuts at moderate feed rates, helping control chip formation and evacuation. It seats in VBMT-style toolholders using a screw-clamp holding method. The ISO designation for this insert is VBMT 16 04 08-UM 1525, which can be used to cross-reference compatible toolholders and verify fitment in standard indexable tooling systems.
Designed for use in VBMT-style indexable turning toolholders that accept screw-clamp insert retention. The ISO code VBMT 16 04 08-UM 1525 can be used to confirm holder compatibility. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and insert seat dimensions before installation.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat and torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specification — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excess clamping force. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips, debris, or wear before seating a new insert edge.
